About the weekend
All competitors bring a volunteer to help with flagging corners or other duties needed to run the event safely. Dress appropriately. You may need to stand for extended periods. Lunch is provided.
Tanacross is the club’s major weekend camping event, held every Memorial Day and Labor Day at Tanacross Airport. It is a summer event made up of wheel to wheel, time trial, and drift.
In both racing events a course is set with orange cones through sharp turns, slaloms, and speed zones.
Wheel to wheel is the main event. Five or more competitors from a range of classes are on course at the same time. Racers get about 10 laps in each of four or five races across Saturday and Sunday.
Time trials run between wheel-to-wheel races both days. Like autocross, one car is on course at a time for the fastest time of the day. Going off course or hitting cones affects your time.
If you have not been to Tanacross, you are missing Alaska’s greatest racing weekend. The drive from Anchorage or Fairbanks is through Alaskan landscape, caravanning with friends to Tanacross Village. A weekend of racing, camping, family dinners (pot luck and Fred’s beans), fires, golfing, and more. Fun for everyone, and a blast for the whole family.
The board thanks the cities of Tanacross and Tok, AK BLM, Burnham Construction and JD Refuse, Tracy Hartless, Tok EMT services, and Mr. Prime Beef for helping make Tanacross happen each year.
